While this is not a mod it may still be interesting for some people here. Today I have created and released DifficultyUnlocker. It is a simple tool that allows you to unlock the difficulty of your Minecraft maps just by right-clicking on the map's folder and clicking the context menu entry "Unlock Difficulty of Minecraft map".

Why should I trust your programs?
I have digitally signed the executables and installers which means I have revealed my identity (and that is not very intelligent if you create malware). Also I'm on the trusted vendor list of the security company Comodo.

How does it work?
After completing the installation you can just right-click the folder of the map whose difficulty you want to unlock. Then just click on the context menu entry "Unlock Difficulty of Minecraft map" and your map's difficulty is unlocked!
