Hey guy, 19d here, and I am wandering which is better modloader or forge? I am making a mod and I need to know what you guys want. This mod will be a animal mod, but I need to know modloader or forge? Which do you prefer? Why do you like it? Which is easier?
These are some questions I need to know.

Thanks,

19dshriver

I don't know much about APIs, but I've heard forge is better, and it's easier on the mod users to install (Drop it in the mods folder)

Forge has way more possibilities. ModLoader is a little bit easier, but soon you will run into problems. I think, and this is what I did, that if you want, you can start with ModLoader. After you have kinda got the feel for it, go for Forge. Its not hard to switch your mods over, but once you do, its very worth it.

Forge is better, but harder.
Modloader is easier, but not as good (less possibilities, more incompatibility issues)

If you use Modloader, your mod probably won't work with Forge, and vice-versa.

I've seen mods that work for either or and not necessarily used only for Forge or Loader.

ModLoader is alright for simple mods, such as adding a few blocks or items. Forge is what you want if you're going to make a BIG mod (like I am!) Also, I think with Forge, you have to create proxies and some other stuff needed for the mod. With ModLoader, you don't have to do that. I also had less trouble installing Forge for MCP, so I would have to say Forge is the better choice when it comes to modding!

If you do make it for ModLoader though, then it might be compatible with Exalm's SSP mod. Go check that out if you don't know what it is, I would recommend it if you play on singleplayer a lot.

Forge is better when using a variety of mods that aren't specifically designed to work together.
