I've built a modern beach house. What I love best about it is its openness, and I don't want to crowd it up with torches and glow stone.
I really like the natural light that comes in during the day (I have shaders), and I don't want to have to need lights till night.
I can't find any tutorials on building daylight sensor lights that I can understand.
Does anyone know how to explain the construction of one of these lights? Do you know how to make a light without a lot of space?

In 1.11, or at least 1.8.9...
Basically, put a daylight sensor on the roof, and right click it so the texture on the top is more baby blue. Take redstone from it to some redstone lamps. When its night, the lamps turn on...

THIS IS WAY EASIER THAT BLADERATE's SILLY REDSTONE. PLUS no noisey pistons!

Here is how you can do it without command blocks:

A light sensor sends in a red stone signal when there is light. So, connect a red stone to some sticky pistons. Put blocks on the pistons. Then, put some lamps. Therefor, during day the pistons will push out and block the lamps. Or you can make it so the pistons suck in the lamps.
