When I summon a skeleton with the command: /summon skeleton ~ ~ ~ {<anything>} they skeleton will always spawn without a bow. I have tried adding a bow in their hand, and they still act like they dont have a bow. this also happens after using the /entitydata command, and the /scoreboard team add command.
please help. thanks!

Add this somewhere in the tag: {HandItems:[{id:"bow",Count:1},{}]}

In layman's term, you need to define that the skeleton is holding a bow in your command.

P.S.:
Wait... if I don't misread your thread, you have done that but it
doesn't spawn with a bow? Weird... because the skeletons I spawn just
that way in my adventure map shoot arrows just fine with that command.

By the way, if your command doesn't have it, make sure to have the Count:1 in the command, it is very, very very important.

I went back and tried all of the commands seperate, and changing entitydata was the main one that affected the skeleton. I have tried adding a bow in their hand, however they act as if they had either no bow or some sort of sword in their hands. not sure why, and definatly hit and miss as to when it doesnt work. thanks though!

Because my skeleton archers work just fine...
