yea so this is a part of skinning I really struggle with and I was wondering if anyone out there could help me with this. Ive been trying to make more complicated outerlevel hair shapes, but I really suck at hair. I dont want to get ahead of myself, but Im was planning on making a Rose Qaurtz skin(steven universe)and her hair has been super frustrating for me to even try to accomplish does anyone know how to make that kind of Depth/drill look onto a 2d plane?

Ohhh, Rose. My Rose from ages back REALLY suffered from that lack of depth and detail in the hair department. I think, for that drill look, I would suggest this. Let's make O a lighter pink than the rest of the hair, X a darker pink than the rest of the hair, and W the darkest.

Now, that'll be a 9x9 grid shape. I would play around with that idea a little and see where you can take it. If it can't quite be managed, try variations of that, but using the "shifting" nature of the secondary layers to your advantage. Hopefully I helped! Best luck with your skin!
