Since the owner has directly linked to here I'll lock the thread.
I never said it was a scam, we just can't allow websites to ask for your minecraft password for obvious reasons.
They also promote blacklisting griefers which which we don't like for all the wrongful accusations and drama it causes.
And, as mentioned, we don't want you spamming all your referral links here.

Minebook is most certainly not a scam.
I've been getting to know the website for the past couple of days, and it does just as it is supposed to do, get minecrafters together onto one sites to arrange events, discuss updates, and keep track of their friends that they make ingame.
It has been long known in Minecraftia that you are unable to have a friendslist in game, so with the addition of this site to the interwebs we can have a huge list of every single player so we can mingle.
Now, if somebody posts a referal link, this could easily be to abuse the referal system and garner rewards for their own benefit. But this is their fault, not the website that is trying to supply the buyers of Minecraft.
Referal links are mainly used to get friends onto the website, and at the same time to get rewards; but like I said, if a user abuses the system then that is their fault.
Also, There is nothing wrong with posting to planet minecraft about this website; It is not a scam. At all. All of the proceeds go towards server costs, website costs, and expansion of said website and server.
You're merely stumping the growth of this website. It is not a good thing to do, considering that we could be friends.

I saw it and it was nothing special. But if they were scamming I dont think they do any more other than encouraging people to spam links on other MC sites.
1
They don't encourage us to do anything we did it because for every person who signs up using your referral link you get points, this was ment To send to your friends but people (not the owners) decided to post links on here lot get more points

minebook is pretty cool and dosent scam you,
1
Minebook is not bad, actually its really cool; you no longer need your minecraftpassword to login. Its "safe" now! Nobody ever asked to spawm with links, users just do it because they are rewarded for refferals, but its not the owners foalt. I realy sugest to check it ot cause its epic! I enjoi it. But I bet I better do not post a link here to not get banned.

Minebook is a peice of $!|&!%#@$$@@!!!##$@$$

You actually are no longer required to give away your minecraft password so there's no danger.

Zaphod, I was expecting you to post this with the "Hey guys, check out this site!" title!

Well if someone does post a link to minebook I guess there are only two things I can do.
1
If I see one, I will
A] Flag it
and B] Go into chat and see if a Mod is in there and Private message them the link and tell them that it is a MineBook link so that they can remove it quicker

thank you so much for posting this and anyone who is reading this never sign up on minebook. My brother jhaynie123 got tricked into posting it on here by the owner and he got banned. My brother is now only tempbanned for a week. he didnt do his homework to check out the site and make sure it is safe. Once he signed up the owner of minebook told him to post on here and he did. The owner of minebook said to bad and that it was his fault. So let that be a lesson to all of you. NEVER go to minebook NEVER post links to it. NEVER sign up on it. --littlefokkusu

Great just what we need another form of spam.
1
A facebook rip-off for minecraft. They have been inciting their users to spam referral links.
1
No offense or anything, but I use minebook and they don't tell you to do anything, for every person who signs up using your specific link you get points, that's all.
I think you should have a look at minebook and talk to its owner before you say that it's unsafe or that it's a rip off of Facebook etc.
Finally you said that it requires you to give away your password, well about a month and a half ago they changed it so that you no longer need your mc password.

This is true. You no longer need your minecraft.net password to register. You just need to log onto their server to get a temporary password.
People were probably posting links because you get rewarded for referrals.
