Minecraft/Discussion Griefing - For or Against?

I spent a solid seven months building a replica of Jurassic Park for a good friend of mine. I would not be pleased to log on one day to find most of it burned to the ground and what little was left vandalized beyond recognition. If the damage is easily repairable and the whole ordeal was done by a friend as a joke, that's one thing, but completely annihilating someone's server for -laughs- and giggles is wrong. It's like ripping up a kid's crayon drawing in front of him.

I want more advanced tech, like a horse-drawn wagon, simple firearms (say, a cannon or a musket), lockable doors that don't require redstone, and (to go out on a very thin limb here in order to please my devious side ) allow monsters from the Nether or the End to leak out of their respective portals if not properly sealed.
