Should I grind Genshin for Arlecchino, or Star Rail for Firefly today

Edit: I should mention I already have enough pulls to guarantee Firefly, I'm just grinding for pulls for her light cone now

    For sure!
Most people tend to shade moving to black, like this, which is perfectly fine! But there are other methods that I prefer, like hue shifting!
    What is hue shifting?
Hue shifting is changing the color as you go from light to dark. In most cases, people shade from one complimentary color to another (typically from yellow to purple), although you can change it any way you want. Hue shifting in action looks like this.
Using hue shifting adds a lot more color to a skin, and creates more interesting shading which helps imply depth.

When going to a darker color, move the color more to purple, and make it a little darker. And when making a lighter color, shift the color closer to yellow, and white.

    Where to use shading.
In wrinkles, clothing folds, implying distance, and more! The further away something is, it seems a lot darker.
Lighting can also be used to show where a light source is, like where the “sun” is, a torch, a lantern, a fire, it’s limitless!

If you have any more questions, feel free to let me know.

check out knoble's old blog about skinning, it's still helpful these days. this is one of my fave art tutorials but is a lot of reading. a lot of color/shading/design improvement comes from emulation. browse thru the skins of creators you look up to/aspire to and start seeing what they do that just works. in simplest terms, what blue said is true. hat layer helps, shading will help. put darker shades where shadows would be, put highlights where the sun/light source hits

Shading is a big one! Also using the second layer. With these two together, you can do a lot of cool things! If you’d like more of an explanation, feel free to ask.

I have never realized how insane my music taste is, my playlist randomly switches between j-pop (including vocaloid and anime songs), rock/metal (like Metallica), video game music, jazz, that one circus song, and dwarf metal

anyone got any tips on making skins? I want to start making some but I have no clue where to start

i started with skin tutorials on youtube and then started adding aspects from other people's skins and modifying them to my liking

i think there's a whole tutorial on here for how to pick colors/shades i'm just not sure what the title was, i'm sure there's more tutorials too. the general thing people do is to hue shift as it gets darker, so like green's shading would start going into blue, or yellow into orange, etc

though it depends on your style, maybe you wouldn't hue shift the shades at all so just experiment and figure out what you like. gather some inspo skins you want a style similar to and practice with aspects of those or change them to be your own

I would just say start small and work your way up.

    1. I would start out by looking at other skins to get some ideas.

    2. Then I would go and begin making a skin starting out with unshaded simple skins.

    3. Once you have created a few skins and start to understand the techniques better then you can go back on those old skin and remake them even better!

tip: When making a skin make sure to fill in the inner parts of the leg, and outer parts of the torso. To do this you will need to turn off the legs arms and head by taping/clicking on them on the left.

    IDK if that was helpful

Try simple, make a sketch, base, add some shading and more detail later. Don't worry about the quality, you can always improve and get feedback

    Hmmmm

    Maybe tutorials?
Just search "skin tutorials" in the PMC search bar and you should be able to find some good ones.

And then you could always use YouTube.
