Added a demo: MC combat training mod (Combat XP) for Minecraft 1.9
Build and tested with forge 1.9-12.16.0.1858-1.9.

Combat XP update for MC 1.9

The CombatXP update to MC Combat Training Mod for Minecraft 1.9 is focused on advanced players who want to perfect their combat skills after the changes introduced with the Minecraft 1.9 Combat Update. The player (or, in the server version, players) get points (CombatXP) after they have successfully carried out an attack on an enemy. Points are docked if a defence against an anemey has proved unsuccessful.

There are a couple of new features in MC Combat Training for Minecraft 1.9, which the player can enable and disable:

-Life guard(available in 1.8 and 1.9): This feature protects the player's life. The player only receives reports about any damage done to him or her. Short commands are /gon which enables and /gof which disables this feature. /gof disables the entire mode, deactivaing also hints, arms and selecting monsters.

-Arms(available in 1.8 and 1.9): The warriors need weapons and for the purposes of combat training the player can be armed. Short command is /arm, which replaces some items in the player's inventory. Before arming, make sure you save your items in a chest. In 1.8 there were no parameters for this command. The arm command in 1.9 has a parameter. This parameter can be: d (for diamond armor), i (for iron armor), g (for gold armor), l (for leather armor).

-CombatXP(available in 1.9 only):CombatXP is enabled by default(Hints are disabled). The player (or, in the server version, players) get points (CombatXP) after they have successfully carried out an attack on an enemy. Points are docked if a defence against an anemey has proved unsuccessful. Friend or Foe
By default all monsters are enemies. Players can become enemies by entering any of the following commands : /CxpOn with a parameter pvp or /xpon with a parameter pvp. Turning on/off CombatXP: Use the /CxpOn (or /xpon) commands with parameters pvm (player vs monsters) or pvp (player vs player and monsters). If no parameter is entered, the pvm parameter is used. Turning Off the mode: Use any of the commands /CxpOff or /xpof. For example: /xpon pvp will turn PvP mode on.

-Hints(available in 1.8 and 1.9): In 1.8 this was the only mode and it was enabled by default. As mentioned above, the player will receive reports about any damage done to him or her. Almost immediately a hint will follow with simple instructions what needs to be done in such a case. Short commands are /hon which enables, and /hof which disables the appearance of hints.

-Selecting monsters(available in 1.8 and 1.9): You can decide with which monsters to fight. Short commands are, for example, /mon Zombie , which enables zombies, and /mof Zombie , which disables zombies from battle. The other options include Skeleton, Spider, Creeper, Slime, Enderman, Witch. /mon without a parameter enables all the default monsters, except for Enderman and Witch. /mof disables all the monsters.

In the demo version, the mod turns off automatically between the 15th and the 20th minute.

It's a great idea, but wouldn't the hints get a little annoying? I would like it if it told me the hint once instead of every time I got hit..

Try the /hof command ( /hof, which disables the appearance of hints). I think this should be OK for you. :)
