Douglas F3D Skyknight (F-10 post 1962) was a jet-powered, radar-equipped, carrier-based night fighter. Designed around the bulky air intercept radars available at the time, the Douglas F3D Skyknight was destined to be a large aircraft. Despite its size and weight, however, the Skyknight proved not only to be very easy to fly, but it was also successful. Introduced in 1951, its advanced radar system and armament of four 20mm cannons made the Skyknight a deadly force over the skies of Korea, especially at night, where the aircraft truly shined.
Eventually, during the Vietnam War, the Skyknights were relegated to an electronic warfare role as the EF-10B. Eventually, it was removed from servicec in 1970, being replaced by newer and more capable aircraft like the EA-6 "Electric Intruder".
