This is my entry to the Caved In-contest. I will update this everytime I can show something new but the map will be uploaded at the end, when I am pleased with it.

THE IDEA

I participate in this contest, because I wanted to give myself a kick in the ass to do something in Minecraft again. The cave-map gives the oportunity to have a closed area, so I will find an end somewhen. I am having problems with wide, endless worlds, because everything I build in them looks so unfinished. So I sayed to myself, that I will not make the cave larger than it is (because it is quite large already).
So I started to think about, what I could build and I came to the idea of building a kind of ancient religious temple thing, that gets overwhelmed by nature. I have been thinking a quite long time about the materials I will use. It was a quite hard decission between sandstone, which gives a more ancient look and feel and the different stonebricks, which are easier to "overwhelm" with wines and leaves and all this other stuff. I ended with takeing stonebricks, because I wanted to get a more nature based build. I think this covers the whole process quite well and all other steps will follow in the worklog.

SOMETHING ABOUT THE PROGRESS-BAR

My aim is it to complete the build at 75% of the progress-bar and spend the last 25% in improving the whole build, adding little details, rebuilding some parts of single structures or even the whole structure, if I am not pleased with it.

It would be nice, if you subscribe, give me a diamond and favorize the build if you like it.
Also you are welcome to post some feedback in the comments.

Update #1 : by 991jo 12/11/2012 1:34:17 pmDecember 11, 2012 @ 6:34 pm UTC

Today I build the Bridge, the first large tree in the middle, and some other stuff you can see on the picture.
I also have tried to make some chunky-renders, but chunky isnt showing all new blocks and even my PC needs an to long amount of time to render an image, thats good enought to upload ;(

Looks neat. I'm curious how the final stage of this will look like.
Good luck rival! :)
