"The significance of the cherry blossom tree in Japanese culture goes back hundreds of years. In their country, the cherry blossom represents the fragility and the beauty of life. It's a reminder that life is almost overwhelmingly beautiful but that it is also tragically short."

Up in the mountains of the eastern, oriental lands a secret spring runs free, feeding and nourising pools and lakes high in the mountain climate. Surrounding, thousands of the largest petals in the lands, blooming and blossoming eternally in their vibrant and beautiful way. The real beauty of these pools is not what is seen however, it's what lies underneath these petals that truely marks the springs as special; peace. True, uncompromised peace.

The original design of this terrain wasn't infact oriental themed, merely mountain pools with snow melting around them. As the terraforming progressed I decided to try a style that I haven't tried before - oriental (ancient east Asian culture). Over the years I've accumilated a large collection of worldpainting assets and amongst them I found the pink petals that are (prehaps too) all over the landscape. After some searching I believe they were created by NStalker, a link to the project found here. Overall I'm very pleased with how this turned out, especially considering it's the first oriental terrain I've ever done. From the ground the map is stunning, the mixture of tropical trees and overhanging petals really gives an amazing feel to the map. I'm very happy with the final result.

I used the following tools to create this map:
  • WorldPainter (for creating the map)
  • Chunky (for rendering the map)
  • Dropbox (to host the download)

Thanks for stopping by, if you enjoyed this submission please consider leaving a diamond! I'm really enjoying these terraforms, if you have any suggestions for some leave them down below, and as always thank you for your time!

Apparently there were some issues with water levels so I've reuploaded with lakes that shouldn't do anything similar - if you're doing a cinematic then you might want to redownload it! Thanks, by the way, looking forward to it!

I'm not sure who the small jungle ferns and trees I used were made by (I can look it up if you'd like) but after a bit of searching the creator of the petals is someone called NStalker, with the project being found here.

In regards to close up renders then maybe! I prefer doing long shots because it really shows off all of the landscape and what there is to explore but I might consider doing some close ups in future builds. Thanks for the feedback!

Over all a nice map especially for vanilla. If i may give a word of advice, while walking the map i noticed couple really obvious water issues. It appears you added your water and then edited part of the terrain around the water. World painter will not updated the new lower ground as water it will simply leave it as air. If you ever make changed to terrain around water just simply update the water lvl. Should solve the problem.

Quick update: I've tweaked around a little in WorldPainter and all the water levels should be normal now, thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention; I was trying to make sure that wouldn't happen but I think some of the final edits I made may have disrupted it. I'll make some changes and re-upload the file. Glad you like it, thanks for the feedback!

Well, pink petals aren't exactly a common building material! Glad you like it though, thanks for the feedback.
