Redstone Computers...

If you want to build any computer, you need certain components: Central Processing Unit, Arithmetic Logic Unit, Graphics Processing Unit, Hardrive, etc.

These have all been created in Minecraft using redstone's Boolean functions (redstone is either on or off (ignoring its signal strength)). This is because you can use redstone to make Logic Gates which can be then used in making computers!

However these different redstone computer parts often take many ticks to process data and also take up lots of space when building. Therefore I have started trying to make faster and more compact versions of these components! Each one of these designs are expandable so you can make very large components if you wanted to.

So far I have designed four redstone computer parts (Links to tutorials next to each component), which include:

-Screen Output [8 ticks] - https://youtu.be/p-EbBuu_7nQ?list=PL2KhAG5s_1yIli-OvLZFJU2lh2vP-OYQH
-Solid State Drive [4 ticks] - https://youtu.be/XUIoA0ELqjE?list=PL2KhAG5s_1yIli-OvLZFJU2lh2vP-OYQH
-Denary to Binary Decoder [1 tick] - https://youtu.be/gn0awr4FKOY?list=PL2KhAG5s_1yIli-OvLZFJU2lh2vP-OYQH
-Graphics Processing Unit [2 tick] - https://youtu.be/ID_ruTDBM3o?list=PL2KhAG5s_1yIli-OvLZFJU2lh2vP-OYQH

I will continue to try and make more redstone computer components and will update this page each time I make a new tutorial! And I hope the tutorials help you to make your own redstone computers! Schematic Downloads may be available for each design in the future!

Your creations look quite good and the tutorials are well explained. But please consider that your creations aren't the fastest and maybe never will (or just for a short time). And if you know how to build those things, learn how to count the tick ...

By the way, synchronise all your inputs. The idea is to have the same latency for each input combination. With a pipelined technology, you will increase significantly the tick rate of the CPU clock.

Thanks for your comment :D

After I created each of these videos, I did some research into other similar builds and found that the designs I made were the fastest (at the moment...) and if faster designs are made, then I will not claim my designs to be the fastest design. I have no intention of lying to people about my builds, so if there are any designs faster please let me know!

Before writing this post, I checked all the tick speeds for my designs, and I think they are all stated accurately... if any of them are not please let me know!

Thanks for the suggestion, in future videos, I'll try to make the designs have synchronised inputs! Although repeaters can just be added in front of certain inputs for the old designs :)

Once again thank you for your comment! I'm sorry if you feel I have misled people with the "fastest redstone components". It is not my intention to mislead people, I make the videos to try and interest people in redstone computers, and generally help the community by showing everyone new ways of making redstone components :)
Thanks for the open redstone links!
