I have made a system for flight paths in Vanilla Minecraft (1.8.1) using command blocks. Record your own flight paths in your world, then travel on them by paying an emerald to the flight master!

Do use, download and add the schematic to the spawn chunks of your world and press the button on the right to start it. To record your paths, press the button under the sign to get a flight path egg. Click with the egg where you want the path to start, then fly along the path - make sure to never get so much lag that you get large gaps in the path. Right-click with the new egg to place the end point.

To fly along a path, trade the Flight Master an emerald and place the ticket in your inventory.

Update #1 : by slicedlime 02/12/2015 2:18:09 pmFeb 12th, 2015

Quick update - I just uploaded a new schematic file for this, since the old one had a bug where the fill clock could sometimes get misaligned, especially if the command blocks were placed in the air. If you had problems getting it to work, my apologies!

This is a brilliant idea that I want to use for my upcoming adventure map. Can't wait to see how this goes!

This is a really cool idea. I love it a lot. It'd be more convenient if you could have multiple flight paths in one Villager's inventory, or perhaps setting them up closer together.

Yeah, I know. Sadly the only way to have more than one per villager is to hardcode the items. The whole thing is based on proximity, so honestly you can have them a lot closer than I did, as long as you stand next to the one you want to fly with.

Edit: But if you wanted to use it for a custom map like an adventure map, it'd totally be possible to hardcode several items into each villager. Would just require custom editing of the command blocks for the map.
