Ah, back in the day when I decided inventory edits were okay but, world edit and mcedit were not.

Oh young 32, there's so much I need to tell you about time and not wasting as much of it.

Sorry, I missed this comment somehow :) You should spawn within eyes distance of the ship. On normal render distance anyway.
