This project was inspired by a geode and thinking about what I could do with tryneplagues tutorial of floating islands. A wiki of geodes is provided below for those who aren't native English speakershttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geode
I used the tutorial on using falling sand to make the platforms, but while they were upside down I used a series of topsoil filter in MCEdit and fill-replace to turn the (mountain) into a multi-layered Russian stacking doll like arrangement with water at its center. With these platforms I created the stacked arrangement you see below. I though that I would used these platforms to build a city on, but instead I built two identical modest houses to start you off with. The rest is up to you. Just as a helpful hint to all those who have read this far, resources (coal, iron, gold, lapiz, diamond) can be found were you find the crystals of a geode. They are very difficult to obtain safely, but that's part of the fun. The schematic goes from floor to ceiling so placement should be easy.

I'm quiet interested in the way you built this.
