Do the melons/pumpkins actually grow? Isn't a plowed block required or is this some new update I don't know about? :p I do my green houses similar, I just use glowstone, so it grows day and night.

Oh right. I didn't see the credit part, but I'm pretty sure the melons won't grow that way. They need a plowed space :)
