After I saw this and this, both from CNBMinecraft, I got inspired to test and improve it, because he said in one of his videos that with his design you would not be able to press the buttons as fast as possible.

The main change is that I added a pulse limiter, which only may contain torches and repeaters because they are stacked next to each other. This allows you to press buttons faster (as fast as I was able to do).
The other thing I changed is that I came up with my own RS NOR Latch Array.

To enter a code, press four buttons of the 9-button numpad and than press the button next to it (the enter button).

The code I programmed in both the world as schematic file is: 1337

Still using redstone for combination locks? Check mine out, they're THREE BLOCKS THICK because I've used pistons instead of redstone! You can download 8 different designs and an additional 2 which are resettable, non-destructive and can be opened/closed from either side! One even has a lock! Perfect for survival worlds and PVP.

Like your designs from what I have seen from the images (indeed very small) will look at their mechanics more closely tomorrow. However I am currently more interested in programmable combination locks using some writable memory. I might even make one in the future using pistontape memory with multiple users, which could be used for some small bank-like storage system.
But I have other bigger plans I would like to build as well, so not sure when I would do this.

An idea you may want to use for a banking system is an entity based 'vending machine' made by CodeCrafted. Basically it requires you to put multiple (How ever many you choose) entities into the machine and then gives you an output. You could connect it to a dispenser or command block for example.

You can download a world save of it from CodeCrafted or 11 of his designs including this with material variants from mine. He never has SCHEMATIC downloads.

Than would this be even a better solution. However I think that the redstone way is more challenging and fun.

That video is genius! Thanks for linking it for me, I'm going to make a more compact version now. However, this is a password based system and the other is a multiple entity input system so this doesn't make my idea redundant.
