Here is one of my really old creations that I made years ago during 1.7.2. It was a survival build that I made on a MLP server that no longer exists. However, the server allowed flying which made the construction much easier. Once completed I stuffed the central alter with a bunch of diamond blocks tempting griefers to steal them. To my understanding they were never stolen, in fact, people added more to the collection! xD This build is a reconstruction I made on my builds world so I could have my own personal copy to appreciate and archive.

This particular build was based directly on the five story pagoda at Hōryū-ji temple in Nara prefecture. I took multiple artistic liberties in order to accommodate playing in survival and the lack of blocks to accurately represent the building. I also had no real idea what the interior looked like so I just made what made sense at the time.

This is also one of my earliest Japanese creations so my understanding of the architectural style was limited back then. I personally call this a generation 1.5 build as it was my first Japanese build to feature fences as roof supports and was my first introduction into Buddhist and Japanese architecture in general.

To this day I'm still really proud of it, and think it has a lot of charm. Its shear size is impressive, especially back in the day when it towered over the server's spawn point. I also like the dark maroon color of the nether rack contrasting with the white walls and dark brown supports. I got to say it also has some really nice curves. However, its accuracy to real Japanese buildings left something to be desired for me, which I would revisit and address later. All in all it still special to me as its one of my first Japanese builds.

In addition to the pagoda I built a tiny tea house just up the hill. The tea house was nothing amazing, but it was my only other gen 1.5 Japanese build so it's special to me for that reason. <3

Hope you enjoyed me sharing this little moment in history and the story that went along with it!

Feel free to tell me what you think of it, or if you were there years ago on that MLP server leave a comment! o/

I plan on posting more of my older builds soon, so if you liked this I hope you look forward to me sharing them!
