Kilkreath Ruins is a large ruined temple dedicated to Meridia situated below the Statue to Meridia.
This is the only place in Skyrim where you can encounter corrupted shades. The temple is unique, as you must activate many pedestals to redirect a beam of light in order to progress through the ruin. It has three interior zones: Kilkreath Temple, Kilkreath Ruins, and Kilkreath Catacombs.
Until you have retrieved Meridia's Beacon, you are unable to enter the ruins, due to all the doors being locked and requiring a key to enter.
The Statue to Meridia is the shrine to the Daedric Prince Meridia.
The climb to the shrine is relatively easy. Steps are cut into the mountain, and Meridia's statue is quite visible. The stone structure supporting the statue is built in the fashion of a stepped pyramid. The door to the corrupted remains of Meridia's temple is built into the base of the shrine to the west, but will only be accessible after the related quest is initiated.
A very short distance up the mountain to the northeast of the statue is a word wall with a word for the Elemental Fury shout.
Visiting this location, if you have not already started it, will start The Break of Dawn, Meridia's Daedric Quest.
