The Laelaps class destroyer is a fearsome vessel, packing eight broadside cannons, four on each side, two exceptionally powerful bow chasers, one stern chaser (even more powerful), 14 firecharge dispensers, and four rapid fire triple dispenser batteries (Fully automatic, terrifying), and 24 fully automatic TNT bomb dispensers, hooked to a fast clock. All of the previous can be controlled remotely from the fire control station directly aft of the fighting front, though for reasons of safety they cannot be observed from there (as it has no windows). The bombs are sighted from a small cupola aft of the dispenser banks, which doubles as a defensive battery. The Laelaps carries a crew of 30 airmen bunked in two separate rooms, plus 10 officers and 8 separately bunked skilled airmen. Ammenities are spartan, with only the most senior officers having individual rooms, and the press-ganged crew stacked like cargo. (30 is a ballpark figure, as many are possible are pressed and the crew hotbunks for the first few weeks, until diseases, accidents, and discipline reduce their numbers.). The ship is defended against boarders by nine arrow dispensers in three separate rooms, two of which protrude from the sides about midships and the third at the center, forward of the main superstructure. The bridge itself is spacious, and protected during battle by retractable metal shutters (During which heading commands are received from the above lookout post.)
Rooms:
Fighting front:
cannons
bomb bay maintenance
forward damage control
bow chaser maintenance
(Seldom used) boarding prow
Central section:
Rapid fire dispenser batteries
bombing cupola
crew area
midrank officers quarters
anti-boarder cupolas
fire control station
galley
crew mess
cargo bay (Two levels, working piston doors)
Docking ramps (Piston extended 'magnets')
phebolium powered levi-Chrystal
skilled crewmen bunks
bridge
lookout
Moving aft
officers' quarters
captains office (w/ captains gallery)
engineering control
sensitive cargo
engine room
There are three engines, two in nacelles and one in the hull. (Directly above which is the stern chaser, and above that the captains cabin.)
While this is all well and good, it is best to just schemagic it.
