There's also a MCEdit schematic which has a command block with it pre-set in.

This adds 3 types of meteors that will randomly spawn (they'll take a while to come but you can change their speed with /gamerule randomTickSpeed <Normaly 3>)

You can also make a block to detect meteors. It'll go yellow when it's about to strike, and red when one is falling. To make one, you place an iron block with redstone dust on top. Stand on top and it'll turn into the block.

If your in creative mode you'll get spawn eggs for each meteor.


The first type is just an explosion

The second is slightly bigger, but also adds dirt blocks that poison you if you get too close.

The third is huge, and is actually 5 explosions from a technical perspecive.
