Well best is; you hit the form excellent. I could recongoinze it as Djenné Mosque by the first picture and didn't need any other text to know what you have built. I think your form is even better than my old construction; but I also built after the AoE model of this building.
I am not a fan of your wood plank stairs at the outer wall but today I am also not a fan of the normal wood blocks I have used years ago - today I would use a player from my head collection; as both version have here the problem, that this full block is a bit to oversized.
Now to last point - I don't like that you built with sandstone that much. I can understand that you used it because of the colour and I guess also because of the fact that sandstone has got stairs and slabs - but the coolest fact on the mosque is, that is just a clay building; and the sandstone texture make it too stoney in my eyes.
Anyways - even if might wrote more about the things I don't like - I really like your creation. It is very nice, good size and has also some other cool benefits and deserve more than a diamond; sadly there a limmited to one - so sorry I cannot give two of them ;)
I always try to be as close as possible to the real appearance even if I don't always use the corresponding blocks
Perhaps i could replace the wood stair with custom head as you advice, that's an idea to try
