“The Hall of Bright”, or "Hall of Clearing politics and culture", or Mingtang, is the main hall of the great dynasty in Ziwei City, known as the "Wanxiang shengong"(Heaven palace of every phenomenon on earth). It is a landmark building in Luoyang, the eastern capital of Tang and Wu Zhou dynasties. It is about 98 meters high and covers an area of 12000 square meters. It is the largest wooden building in the history of the world and the peak of the history of Chinese architecture.

Mingtang is an important ritual building used by ancient emperors for political distribution and worship. The Mingtang of Tang and Wu Zhou Dynasties was built in the third year of the chuigong (687 A.D), and was finished at the end of the next year. It was destroyed in 695 A.D and rebuilt in the next year (696 A.D)
It is the "Temple of the son of heaven". Used to meeting court officials, issuing decrees, offering sacrifices, etc

The Mingtang is equipped with doors and windows that were highest level at that time.

The first floor is octagonal, about 7200 square meters, with a net indoor height of 50 tang feet (about 15 meters). It is a place for political ceremonies, meetings.

The second floor is dodecagonal, about 3200 square meters, and the indoor clear height is 72 tang feet (about 21 meters). The function is unknown.

The third floor is 24 sided, about 1600 square meters, with a clear indoor height of 80 tang feet (about 23 meters). It is dedicated to the five heavenly emperors, the ancestors of Li and Wu. It is a national place for emperors to worship their ancestors. It's about 294 tang feet high, with a Golden Phoenix at the top, was later changed into a fire bead.

The Mingtang was divided into five halls, the middle of which is the Taishi, or Duanjian hall; It also has access to four rooms, which are divided into four directions: Qingyang in the East, Mingtang in the south, Zongzhang in the West and Xuantang in the north. There are left and right rooms in each of the four directions, namely "left" and "right".

The five halls of the Mingtang match with different seasons, colors, five elements, five emperors and five gods. The ancients believed that the son of heaven(emperor) should live and arrange politics in the palace in the corresponding direction in different seasons, so as to make heaven and man one, good weather and people live and work in peace and contentment. The so-called "Mingtang feast" is a national activity to worship five emperors in ancient time.

In the 24th year of Kaiyuan (736 A.D), Emperor Xuanzong went to Chang'an. In the 25th year of Kaiyuan (737 A.D), Emperor Xuanzong ordered Kang Weisu, a great craftsman, to go to the east capital to destroy the Ming hall. Kang peisu thought should only demolish the upper layer, which is 95 feet lower than before; The pillar core wood was removed, and an octagonal building was built on the flat seat. There were eight dragons holding fire beads in the air on the upper floor, and the lower floor was rebuilt into a new hall.

In the 28th year of Kaiyuan (740 A.D), the fire of Foguang Temple burned the Gallery House, and the new hall was changed to Hanyuan hall.

In the first year of Zongbao (762 A.D), years after the An-Shi rebellion. the rulers of Tang Dynasty condoned Huihe army looting Luoyang city, and the Mingtang was completely destroyed. So far, the Mingtang, a symbol of the Tang empire, collapsed in the flames of war and turned into scorched earth ruins.

Some of my feelings: I don't know whether people around the world know that such a building exists in history, but even Chinese people rarely know the existence of such a building. As a Chinese who is particularly interested in Chinese history, I know it, but not very well.

In January 2021, I personally visited Luoyang, which was the capital of 13 dynasties, and I visited the site park of Mingtang now. I got a deeper understanding of it and came up with the idea of building it in minecraft, and then, I built a replica of it in Minecraft, in 2:1 scale.

Thanks.
About tutorials, the vast majority of MC players in the world who are good at building east asian style architecture are from China. (I'm Chinese too XD)
You can visit the website like mcbbs.net, bilibili.com, search "minecraft 中式建筑教程" or “我的世界 中式建筑教程” If you are not a Chinese user, you can use translation software to help you search.

For a more effective way, a friend of mine is the founder of the Taixue team (a Chinese team that is very good at Chinese Architecture). Their team has an official twitter @taixuexiaoming. You can send message to them and ask how to visit their server. It would be effective to visit the buildings in the server that has top players

My twitter https://www.twitter.com/VotMaf My bilibili https://space.bilibili.com/7304615
My current twitter account is mainly used to display the works of our team. (But most of them are modern style lol)

And yep, epicwork and linscraft are old teams and top level teams in China...They are "pioneers" of the domestic MC community, and I admire them very much.
