Hi all, thanks for checking out my map – I was encouraged to share this after sharing my Minecraft world map sketch over Reddit (big shout out to all the kind messages on there).

Java Map - simply unzip and save in the correct location - V1.14.4

Background
The world of Thethalla has been my continuous map for the past ten plus years (I can’t remember exactly when I started it, I think it was early beta/late alpha, i don't remember?) It is a map which for the vast majority I have been in Survival mode, it was only in the last two years that I realised I could actually switch to ‘Creative’ and be able to build by flying around – instead of slowly and painstakingly.

For the first five or so years of survival mode – I did use a single mod to have unlimited resources to build with – however this mod eventually became incompatible with current Minecraft builds and progress was then slow and steady until I switched to Creative.

Thethalla is a world I never planned to share, it is not a showcase of harmonised construction, nor is it an adventure map deep with lore and exciting sights, many of the buildings are unfurnished inside. It’s just a sprawling world of sights, locations and cities named after whatever I was watching/reading/playing at the time which I hope you may find interesting to explore.

As per the map, the world is divided into numerous landmasses, one thing to stress – most of this world was explored in ‘the early days’ – terrain chunk generation was a bit more haphazard then, expect some towering cliffs, unlevel sea and so forth. Some of the newer landmasses benefit from more modern terrain features like rivers, valleys and so forth (the only underwater monument I have discovered so far is a long way from original spawn).

The Landmasses:

Graceland – The capital continent, hilly with some forests to the north and tundra, it is the original spawn palace and therefore the most developed, sights include:
Homebase City – The administrative capital of the Empire and largest of the ‘4 Cities’ built in the plains overlooked by the hill on which I first hid in the ground on the first night in Minecraft. Homebase City itself has a large number of sights and is surrounded by low city walls and a number of fortresses (notably, Iserlohn Fortress, Bastille and Aqua Gate), built in four building phases over subsequent years.
Project Aqua – Built in the first year as a University challenge with housemates to build an impressive structure, this water pyramid is overlooked by the statue of our lord and savour Notch, and The Grand Bridge.
The Grand Bridge – Connecting to the southern continent of Jomark, this would have been so much easier in creative!
Pharos Lighthouse – One of the ‘4 lighthouses’ that serves as a railway hub. The only lighthouse to be entirely rebuilt in the last year, overlooks the Nigh Whirlpools where I blasted a dozen sandbanks to oblivion.
The Tomb of Genji – The closest I ever got to a challenge map – a hidden tomb of diamonds deep underground, hidden behind numerous challenges for my University friends to solve. Unfortunately, they blew it to hell and the diamond tomb is forever lost (as the Nether Gate no longer links up)
Other sites include Gilgamesh’s Tower, Windbloom Castle, Empire Tower and much more.

Grandi – Second of the landmasses to be explored, Grandi is notable for its endless Du Vatenburg Rainforest covering much of the land:
Midgar – Administrative capital of Grandi, built in a lake surrounded by towers jutting out, a single TNT cannon guards the tunnel access.
Columbia – An abandoned attempt at a floating city close to Midgar, slowly rusting away.
Halura – A huge tree which can be seen from Midgar was converted into a treehouse to explore more of Grandi from.
Laputa – A tall towering structure suspended over the forest allowing birdseye views across the great forests

Begrest – Third of the landmasses to be explored, connected primarily via the Pharos Lighthouse, home to the Garin Desert and sprawling Il Meg Plains.
HighGuard – Administrative capital of Begrest, surrounded by some low sandbrick walls to keep out mobs, due for an upgrade in late 2020.
Ragno Pass – Wall separating Begrest to the deeper south, marks the extent of civilised lands, beyond lies more untamed lands.
Madina High – For a long time, the Western extent of exploration, overlooks the Sea of the Waning Sun.
Port Jomark – On the very southern tip of Begrest, Port Jomark is a heavily fortified enclave dedicated to the Church of Notch.

Jomark – Fourth of the landmasses to be explored, connected to Graceland directly by The Grand Bridge, home to the Jalan Sands and the great forest further south.
Augustgrad – Administrative capital and almost a full city of its own. Designed entirely as a model settlement, important trade hub connecting to the Far East, connected by a direct underground railway to Homebase City and an overland route.
Jalalalabad – Original foothold on Jomark, a sandcastle settlement named after the finest Battlefield 2 map.
The World Tree – A wellspring of earth energy leading to a scientific outpost built in the branches of the mighty tree.
The Desolation – Potentially a long-ago cosmic calamity that landed close enough to the World Tree to have potentially doomed the land itself, a scientific post looks over this crater.

Anatoras – North of Graceland, connected by a suspension bridge north of Gilgamesh’s Tower, a land of tundra and ice where little can grow.
Castle Oblivion – Fortified tower surrounded by tundra, administrative capital but not a place to dwell overly long in.
Rozzaria, The Red Keep – Modelled after The Red Keep in GOT, its now largely abandoned to snow and ice of the everlasting Anatoras winter (just like how D&D abandoned the franchise in season 8)
Sofias Point – A great sprawling tower reaching to the heavens, as cold and stark as the spirit that built it.

Arlea – Great northern continent bracketed by the Zarin desert and the land where first contact was made with natives of Thethalla, the first tribal village.
Arlea City & Spaceport – Second of the ‘Four Cities’, Arlea is an expansive city with much room to grow and as such, is roughly only 25% developed. Notable sights include the Spaceport which remains under construction, the dockyards and the great model castle outside the city walls.
Cathula Lighthouse – Second of the ‘4 lighthouses’, important railway hub between North, East and the South.
Zu’s Hope – First contact with world natives was made here, the town of Zu’s Hope is close enough to Arlea City for local trading between the two settlements
Pontra Cliffs – On the banks of The Great Blue is this border checkpoint built into the sheer cliffs overlooking it.

The Borderlands – Only a partial explored landmass of scattered islands and deserts, separated by the massive Great Blue ocean that connects it to Arlea to the east.
Sarx Castle – Built overlooking The Great Blue, this castle serves as the administrative capital for The Borderlands and hub for further excursions into the unexplored lands.
Fortress Aumann - Originally the extent of northern exploration, this two walled fortress was designed to guard against incursion into Grandi and Graceland.

Valadoria – Absolute north-eastern extent of Thethalla, reached by heedlessly exploring in the Nether and emerging in these untouched lands, the quest was then to develop a rail route back to civilisation, travel by rail from Homebase City to this far flung landmass is a long trip.
Tar Valon – Massive fortress serving as the administrative capital of this far northern colony. Home to the primary airbase for further exploration and connects to a myriad of exploration railway lines, due for expansion.
Xen Base 1 – Original nether gate built a little outside Tar Valon, allows fast travel back to Graceland
Castle Calistigo – A sand fortress that connects to further travel to the far north, there are deserted railway lines leading further north into the distance.

The Lunopolis Islands – Many islands connect Valadoria with the central homelands and are broadly separated into ‘Northern’ and ‘Southern’ designations.
The Dome – Marks approximately a halfway point on the return trip to Homebase. As the administrative capital it has several railway lines that converge here.
Frost Chapel – Small church dedicated to Notch, built on the deep permafrost
Heim Radna – Graceful waterfalls spiral out from this mountain, before leading to a bridge connecting to Valadoria
Hollow Bastion – A second native village was discovered on the banks of a great gorge, first to be discovered on Thethalla.
Other sites include The Hanson Peaks, The Magitech Labs and more.

Lodis – One of the largest landmasses, North Lodis is well developed and connects on the great eastern line and north towards Valadoria. South Lodis is wild, sprawling and less well developed.
The Manor – Connected by overland routes to Homebase City, the manor was a model home overlooking the great Lodis desert, administrative capital and important hub for eastern travel.
Venus Lighthouse – Only one of the ‘4 lighthouses’ to be built on land and by far the least important, a connection on the route to Ragnost.
Installation BK01 – Black research site on the island of Beck just off the main eastern railway line, first place where dogs were successfully tamed.
Gondowen Pass – Connects to South Lodis, important fortification that overlooks the nearby power station.
Shinra Power Plant – Currently still under construction, a massive gateway to the nether designed to siphon off endless energy for the material world, what could go wrong?
Fort Stark – Walled enclave of South Lodis, unremarkable except for its rugged exclusion.

Lok en Ragnost – A catch all term for the far eastern lands, from verdant beachlands to the end of the Eastern Railway line.
Clausewitzian Fortress – Bastion of the East, first flame of Notch, the fortress guards the eastern line from further incursions and is home to one of the few airports in this quadrant.
Awaria Beach – Holiday resort famous for its sunsets, well protected by the nearby fortress.
The Bathouse – Nearby tourist resort catering to the beach villiage, connected by a short rail trip south.
Jariya Arch – Great arch spanning the seemingly endless desert, half-way point on the trip east and last rail exchange to head north or further south.
Titans Rest – Probably not its real name but its far enough out of the way for me not to correct myself
Aqua Cliffs – Termination point of the Eastern Line and hub for further exploration. Home to a Nether Gate allowing for fast travel to Homebase City.

The Great Lakes – Famed for its massive rainforests and treacherous swamps, the great lakes is notable for is geographical variety (cough, more advanced chunk generation) and verdant farmlands.
Valley of the Winds – Smallest of the ‘4 Cities’ this peaceful farming community is walled in a great mountain range and home to libraries of knowledge and accumulated books. Notably it is the only one of the 4 Cities not to be connected by an airstrip requiring overland travel by railway.
Castle Nausicaa – Balanced on the mountains overlooking the Valley, this castle is notable for its windmills and the abandoned railway line that heads south from it.
Halle Lighthouse – Southernmost of the ‘4 Lighthouses’, Halle is notable for its connections with Augustgrad, Riverlands and further south.

The Riverlands – Youngest and newest of all the landmasses, only explored within the last years, The Riverland’s is home to some of the most beautiful terrain in all of Thethalla, winding rivers, graceful plateaus and towering mountains. It is a landmass begging for further exploration and development.
Cloud Temple Fortress – Youngest of the ‘4 Cities’ Cloud Temple Fortress is designed with aesthetics foremost in mind. Constructed on a misty plateau overlooking the verdant rainforest, the Fortress itself overlooks a peaceful farming community, a local airport and a nearby dockyard still under construction.
The Grand Viaduct – Connecting the city to the outside world, this massive viaduct was designed to gracefully blend into the terrain and the beautiful, untouched forest it passes over, plans to extend it all the way back to Graceland are currently on hold.
Cathedral of the Abyss – The established Church of Notch’s headquarters, built on a barren, snowy mountain outside the city’s walls. The Cathedral of the Abyss has numerous basic rooms for its acolytes and passes over the great abyss in question, a place hastily passed by on the route to the city.

Other, smaller landmasses

The Phon Coast - The 'new' rail runs across from Cloud Temple Fortress up to Jariya Arch, visiting Mesa Verde, Temmaria Bay, Monument 3 & Phon Coast
Ragnost – Despite its proximity to Homebase City, Ragnost is largely untouched, the great volcano of Terca Lumaris being expanded as the administrative capital and an important railway hub.
The Venus Islands – A sprawling archipelago of eastern islands that is only lightly explored, administered from Ragnost, home to numerous small settlements.
West Arlington Islands – Absolute western extent of Thethalla, home to Westling Castle and connects to Haven. The cliff town of Santa Hanna was only recently located.
Haven – Absolute north-western extent of Thethalla, a few minor settlements but also home to the Site of World Destruction – where our lord Notch expresses his displeasure by ravaging the land in his fury.
Bastion – Far southern enclave notable for its great valley, home to a concealed settlement hidden within baring the same name as the landmass. From here the 'new' railway connects it to The Riverlands.
