hi there guys! my skin today is a little gloomy: it's about diabetes awareness. my dad has type 1 diabetes and has been struggling with it for 15+ years. there are two types of diabetes: type 1 and type 2.in type 1, the body is not producing insulin, while in type 2, the cells are not responding properly to the insulin, and/or there is not enough insulin being produced. type 1 is uncommon as you cannot prevent it (at this current time) and you must take insulin every day. type 2 is the more common: the case being more often than not that a person with type 2 has been overweight or unhealthy for so long that their body cannot produce enough insulin, as well as growing a resistance towards it.

i made this skin to let everyone be aware that type 2 (or 1) diabetes can happen to everyone. it is fatal and it is very life changing. be aware and be healthy!!

so this skin is specifically for diabetes awareness, and he proudly shows his ribbon-inspired scarf!

(note: the gray ribbon also stands for brain cancer awareness as well as asthma awareness. in this case, it's used for diabetes awareness!)

I'm quite suprised how many diabetics this post has brought together in just one day. I'm a diabetic myself and I wouldn't meet this many diabetics in a year aside from hospital visits. Great skin too :)

My friend has Type one Diabetes...Haven't seen from him in awhile, but I'm pretty sure he is doing fine. Since it's October, I would love to see a Breast cancer awareness skin from you! I hope your dad will be able to make it through and live a good life. I love all of your artwork! It's amazing! Your personality and attitude could also go along those same lines. Thank you for making this skin :)
