That has got to be the worst Uniform to wear into battle. "Sir," "What" "The Enemy can see us from here." "But, how? We are 20 miles off!" "It's our uniforms."

Also, it is the Dress Uniform, in battle they would have worn a uniform similar to that of other nationalists. Other than that I agree, considering that fighting for the North in the American Civil War counts as the second reason.
