My entry to Nitgo's Aliens Vs. Astronauts Contest! He's just a little guy, as far as we can tell.
Description:
The extraterrestrial is carbon-based, purple in color, and approximately 4’6” (though it appears to sink into its own skin, a feature most noticeable in its legs, producing an effect similar to slouching). Its body is vaguely conical in shape, with a large mouth in the middle and a single, bulging eye near the top. Two trunk-like legs protrude from the bottom, and it has a skinny arm on either side (though it possesses no recognizable hands or feet). By all accounts the organism appears to be docile, and furthermore it has shown significant interest in us and our operations. This interest appears to be nothing more than lighthearted curiosity. This description may be updated if further information is uncovered.
Captain’s Log, 2/14/2431:
Today we encountered the first alien life we’ve yet to see in the Andromeda Galaxy! I’ll write a description soon, but it’s difficult to contain my excitement at this discovery. The organism was found while collecting samples on a small moon orbiting Planet-2778B, yet another completely desolate and barren planet (again with evidence that life may have existed previously, but if that was the case it had to have either been very long ago, or an extremely sudden extinction). The organism emerged from behind a nearby ridge and confidently made its way over to the team deployed on the moon, taking them very much by surprise. It is a miracle that no one on the team fired on the organism, though upon interrogation none of the five agents reported that they even considered doing so.
Captain’s Log, 2/15/2431:
We have successfully coaxed the organism aboard the ship, though it is worth noting that this wasn’t at all difficult, as the organism had previously shown a desire to explore it. We’ve run initial scans showing that its genetic composition is very similar to our own, to the extent that it is carbon-based, a rarity in environments beyond our solar system. Our primary objective is now to spend time with the organism, and learn as much as we can. I’ll update this log with our findings.
Captain’s Log, 2/23/2431:
We’ve been having so much fun! As per my promise in yesterday’s log, I shall notate our findings. We’re all just so grateful for this experience. Not only is this a remarkable discovery, but the organism makes great company! The hull of the ship requires maintenance, meaning that someone will have to take a break from engaging with the lifeform. I’ve volunteered to do this, as the thought of it seemed unbearable to the crew.
Captain’s Log, 2/24/2431:
I’ve returned from my spacewalk, maintenance was successful. I’ve noticed, however, that the five agents who made initial contact with the organism are missing. When I brought this up, it was shrugged off by the majority of the crew. Their demeanor is… altered. I can’t put my finger on it exactly, but I noticed something else. Their eyes are all blue.

Nothing was as it seemed. I must update the description as soon as possible. My eyes are starting to change colors.
