Diane is but an old woman who by should by all rights be dead. When a defect claimed her heart, she replaced with one made of crystal, pumps and programs. When a scorching fire claimed her skin, she created a new, metal-polymer that could never be touched by flames again. And finally, when cataracts finally claimed her eyes at the age of sixty, She crafted ones made of crystal to see through. Today, she's 80 years old, but still looks like she's 20. She has no nervous system to speak of and almost every organ in her body has been replaced by a mechanical substitute.

Soon, she's going to finally go through with the brain-transplant. To this; she wonders: where the machine end and the Diane begin?
