Shy outsider Eddie Mochran hasn't enjoyed his new high school. Being constantly bullied, and rejected by many has taken its toll on Eddie. Until one day, during a fire inside the lab room, Eddie was locked inside and his DNA mixed with the toxic chemicals that burned inside the room. After the fire subsided, Eddie turned into a gaseous state and became: Smoke. Eddie used his newly acquired powers to escape the room and get to safety. He fled home where he returned back to a humanoid - solid state. At first, Eddie taught himself to control his new powers and when he mastered his abilities, used them for revenge.
However, Eddie soon realized that what he was doing was wrong and decided to use his powers for the better. He now protects the people of Philadelphia silently and heroically...
