Crystalsmite Dragon Lore
In a far away galaxy, on the second planet from the sun Catu, Dyrid, there is a region of savanna and desert, filled with large oasises. This region is called Endzescranvi. Endzescranvi is filled with countless species of dragons, untamed and wild, but intelligent enough to build or crumble civilizations.
But before dragons ruled Dyrid, there were humans. Noble kingdoms among the massive hundred-story trees were everywhere, always clashing. In battle, there were no horses, but there were dragons. The most noble of all humans in that time, kings, queens, and the rest of the royal families, rode Crystalsmite dragons.
One royal family, the Ferral bloodline, always kept the same line of Crystalsmites in their family, N'Crynzina. These beautiful, massive dragons, three arraws (1.7 meters per arraw) long, had more powerful magic than any of the others of their breed. They could grow crystals with their mind, grow plants with their breath, and crystallize liquids with their breath too.
The greatest flaw of female Crystalsmite dragons is their Cycle of Violence. The cycle isn't based on any visible timekeeping source, but instead each dragon's personal inner clock. At Valleypoint, the dragons are calm, peaceful dragons who are kind to any creature. They don't even eat meat in this period, despite the fact that they are omnivores.
Highpeak is the opposite. Crystalsmites are impulsive, violent, and cruel here, wanting to inflict the most pain possible on anything they cam. Very few dragons overcame these urges. The N'Crynzina bloodline was and still is the most successful at controlling these violent impulses, the living remainder of this line a dragon called 'Exxe'.
Long after humans went extinct, these dragons continue to be one of the strongest races in all of Endzescranvi, but their time is ticking; there are four remaining members of this species alive. They are only powerful because of each one's ranking in their groups, or the awe they inspire in the hearts and minds of other dragons.
