The German Empire (German: Deutsches Reich) is the name of the German state in 1871-1918.
The founders of the German Empire are Otto von Bismarck and Wilhelm I of Hohenzollern. Sometimes it is called the "Second Reich" (see "First" and "Third"). The German Empire ceased to exist in 1918 as a result of the November Revolution, followed by the abdication of Wilhelm II.
