I watched as they lowered the coffin into the grave. It was a beautiful coffin, really; black wood with golden trim, shining like something from a palace. But I didn't care how lovely it looked. I cared about what was inside.
We hadn't been married for longer than three weeks. It was the best three weeks of my life. I had bought a house; we were going to make a life together. Start a family.
But all that had been taken away from me.
I stared as the coffin went deeper and deeper into the hole. I thought I had everything. Everything important to me. I was rich; I had a lovely home, all the clothes I ever wanted, and every gadget I could get my hands on. My beautiful wife shared it all with me. But I never realized how much I took it for granted.
I looked on as the coffin touched the bottom of the six-foot-deep hole. I had all the money I needed, but all the money and the world couldn't get back what I wanted most.
Wow. I'm usually not that morbid, but... wow.
(This was written from the POV of a husband. I sort of based the story on a little short story thing I made up a while back about a couple of OCs of mine.)
Let's see... so, yeah, this is my entry to Falna's contest. The theme is things money can't buy. The story I had in mind worked perfectly, anyway, since the guy was rich and the girl was dead.
Wish me luck in the contest! This skin was a little rushed, tbh, but I really do like the way it turned out. I attemped high heels, as you can see. As always, constructive criticism/feedback is appreciated!
