The Story of Allomere the Griffin

With the body of a lion and the head, wings, and talons of an eagle, Griffins are known to be powerful creatures that soar through the sky. For Allomere unfortunately, his eagle claws were teared off of him by hunters sent by the human kingdom. His wound healed overtime, but it did not stop him from being ridiculed by others. With the lack of front talons, Allomere walked with his body vertical instead of horizontal. Eating was incredibly difficult, and he slept upright every night. 

For many years, Allomere learned to adapt life without his talons for he was never getting them back. He even learned to ignore the teasing, which many grew bored of. He spent most of his life above the clouds, with no one, but himself. It was the only place he felt comfortable in.

Despite Allomere’s loneliness, he fell in love with one dear Griffin named Gylfie. She had lost one lion leg, though she was never discouraged from it. Allomere was astonished to see her adapt so quickly. He admired her a lot, but he didn’t have the courage to talk to her. Instead, she came to him. She told him she loved being different from others. All he said to that was, “Woww.... Really?” and they dissolved into laughter. They agreed to spend every evening together, no matter what. Life was wonderful for him once again, and he cherished it. 

After a few months of leisure, the human kingdom began hunting Griffins again. They developed a new machine that helped catch Griffins while they’re flying. Dozens of Griffins were captured and taken away. Their wings were cut-off for wall decorations. Their lion fur was used for carpets. Allomere and Gylfie were devastated by this. As the elder Griffins searched for a solution, the population decreased rapidly. Which left Gylfie’s eventual fate, her head slaughtered, all the more tragic.
