Every normally functioning person has emotions. Some people are expressive, and some people are not.  If you're not feeling emotionally expressive at the moment, put on this skin. The head contains the facial expression commonly associated with the emotion and the torso contains the weather pattern commonly associated with the emotion. From the front, you are happy. From the side, you are either silly or mad. From the back, you are sad. Wouldn't this confuse people?
