hair shading is really weird, why is it smooth, with the colors it looks like lava. And why is the adrkest part of the shading on the top of the head?

This is a cartoony skin for one, which is why the hair is smooth. If I made the hair shift red less, it would look more bland and boring. And then, the darkest shade is on the top because I feel like it looks better. And just because it's the meta that it's on the bottom or side  doesn't mean anything, really.
