In ancient times, for thousands of years, the Demons ruled the continent of Daemorun, enjoying their enslaving and exploiting of the mortal peoples who were trying to cement their new settlements and cultures. Among the most tyrannical of demons were the Kobolds.

Kobolds, who resembled dragon-like humanoids without wings, were incredibly greedy and hedonistic. Kobold Lords enjoyed the perks of playing master to the villages and towns they ruled over, often demanding offerings of gold and precious stones. The only service Kobolds gave to their people was the same service all demons gave to their peoples: military training in order to raid and/or defend against neighboring demon lords.

The palaces of Kobolds were considered to be especially extravagant when compared to other demon palaces and temples, with large statues of gold and silver, pillars and ceilings adorned in rare jewels and embedded with gilded mortal bones, among other details. Even today, a millennia later, while many of these palaces lie in ruin, they are still full of treasures ripe for the picking.
