There is a legend that has been passed down through the generations that there is a creature in the forest that will kill you if you walk into to its territory. How would you know you ask, well it could be the claw marks on trees or the fact that its dead silent, but in truth it’s a name etched into the bark of a rather large tree. If you see that…it’s too late to run…
Wiping the sweat off his brow the traveler walked to the small cabin at the edge of the woods. He pushed the door open and looked around the place. He saw the counter and asked if there was a guide willing to take him through the woods. He noticed that all the guides have looked away. He offered a great amount of money but none even moved. He offered more and finally a guide desperate to feed his family offered to take him. Delighted the traveler gave him half his pay and they gathered supplies in preparation for the hike. Off they went onto the trail into the forest unknowing what lies ahead. As they traveled deeper into the forest the traveler noticed his guide jumping at the slightest sounds and critters, finding it odd he questioned the guide. The guide stopped and looked him dead in the eyes as he told him the horrid legend of the forest creature. The traveler laughed as he didn’t believe in legends and he patted his guide in the back and continued to walk through the forest. The sun has finally set and the guide is setting up camp while the traveler looked in awe at the plants and wild life that weren’t too shy around humans. The guide and traveler ate then they both went to bed. Later in the night the traveler woke up to sound of low growls and walking around his tent, thinking it just might be the wild wolves around these parts, he passed it off and went back to sleep. The next morning, after breakfast, they were on their way through the forest once more and the traveler had noticed that the trees had odd marks on them like extremely old claw marks. As they traveled on, he noted that the wild life has quieted down. The sun was setting once more and the guide told him it was going to be a full moon that night and that moon was so close you can practically touch it. Excited the traveler hurried up to the next rest stop to set up a good spot so he can watch the moon. The guide left to bather fallen branched to set up a fire when he screamed and came running to the traveler saying he saw a name etched into a tree marking the territory of the creature. The traveler smiled not believing the guide and he went to investigate no matter how much the guide pleaded with him to not go and that they should leave. They reached the tree with the name etched into it and the traveler smiled, “what was it again you said…that once you see this it’s too late?” the guide nodded quickly too frightened to speak anymore and the travelers smiled turned into a grin, “well…wouldn’t you think that you would stop coming here after a warning like that…” the moon was high up in the sky when the traveler began to change, he tore his shirt off and howled loudly to the moon while the guide has become paralyzed with fear. The werewolf looked at the guide, his eyes blood thirsty…
In the distance a couple traveling up the forest trail with another guide, hear a blood curling scream and a loud howl, the guide stops in his track, “It’s taken another one…”
