Michael is the first Protagonist in Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V.
Michael is a rich and retired bankrobber who faked his death after a bad robbery went down with Trevor Phillips and Brad Snide, leaving Trevor to flee and Brad dead. Michael turned himself in to the police and they let him start anew in the city of Los Santos, San Andreas, where he changed his name from Michael Townley to Michael De Santa.
Trevor was also living in San Andreas, but in a different district: Blaine County. When he realized Michael was alive, he sets out to find him, along the way trying to be killed by several people including bikers, Chinese and inbred hillbillies.
Trevor eventually finds him, and after arguing about how he mourned Michael' "death", Michael, Trevor and
repo man / ex - gangster Frankli go back to Michael and Trevors original intent: To pull off the biggest bank heist in history.
