In my mind the pigmen were an ancient race cursed and doomed by their own devices or the gods, with few survivors. Somewhat got the idea from the Pig Monk skin in the Asia skin set offered in the game's store. Except I imagined my Pigman fighting like a Spartan rather than with kung fu. I also have another Pigman skin except it is a barbarian. Not sure where I saved it though.
