Tarra was born in a secluded section of a woodland, with only three people ever interacting with her for the first 18 years of her life. Her mother, a druid; her father, a ranger; and her older foster-brother, a orc abandoned by his tribe. She learned the magic of plants and animals from her mother, and how to use a bow from her father. Her brother taught her how to defend herself, whether she liked it or not.

She had trouble, however, learning the shape-shifting art of the druids. To compensate, she spent months and years practicing the magic she could do. The bending of plants, and life, as well as animalistic magic, such as empathy and the ability to command beasts. She soon mastered the magic, and ventured to the nearest village, against her parents wishes, when he brother was away tracking his tribe.

Instead, she was ambushed by bandits, who threatened to kill her. She used her magic, and defended herself against the attackers, calling a bear to fight with her, as well as bending the very trees to her will. Each bandit was knocked unconscious by the onslaught. They were nearly killed, as well, but Tarra prevented her bear from mauling the attackers further. The bear submitted, and followed Tarra.

And followed her, and followed her, despite her best attempts to make it leave. So, accompanied by the bear, she brought the bandits, a total of five in number, to the guards of the village, turning them in. She was rewarded with several gold pieces, with which she returned home. Along with her bear, of course. When she arrived, she told her parents what had occurred, and nearly gave her father a heart attack in the process.

When her brother returned, along with a new scar, blood stain, and sword, he accompanied her (and her bear) as she set off to help rid the lands of evil.
