Why the scare quotes around 1.4.3? Moxwel may have made some other changes for the 1.4.3 release which includes the social interaction dialogue box, as he mentions in his changelog, so this pack may not accurately reflect these new changes, but includes the new featue introduced in Minecraft Java Edition 1.16.4. Use of this pack may revert whatever minuscule changes Moxwel had performed with his most recent release, in spite of including new files bringing this to parity with his work.

Preface

Exploding creepers are everywhere! 1 in 3 creeper deaths are due to visual awareness being compromised by opaque elements over the viewer's field of vision (Probably). Don't be that bozo staring at their inventory when one's coming toward your face — take back your sight with the InventorySense UI transparent interface mod!

Purpose

All joking aside — this is an iteration of Moxwel's InventorySense UI interface that is heavily inspired by VanillaTweaks' Transparent UI. His work, with some assets from VanillaTweaks and a whole lot of love managed to create an interface which doesn't suck, and is ideal for people who like InventorySense, but didn't like how difficult it is to see anything past it.

Compliance

CC BY-SA int'l 4.0. Moxwel uses the same license for InventorySense UI, which permits I (hebgbs) the capability to modify this work as I see fit so long this license is distributed with this work. Please view this license to learn about your rights as an end-user and how to seek exception / exemption from this writ for inclusion into a commercial work as deemed necessary for distribution with any for-profit works.

Features

  • Transparent containers
  • Dithered transparent iconography where applicable
  • Dithered potion effect background elements
  • Seamless tabbed interfaces (Creative inv. / Survival recipe book)
  • White fonts for container interfaces
  • Coloured fonts for villager trade ranks

Bugs

If just starting out, then the recipe book container will have missing pixels at the left until the book is sufficiently filled in. This is just how the seamless tab effect does due to how it is created. I am not going to fix that until OptiFine team takes my suggestion for individually customizable recipe book pages seriously.

Interface concept amendments

As well Moxwel's original concepts, these contributed to interface development:
  • All buttons are to remain opaque as they do not interfere with visibility behind menus enough to warrant the extra effort.
  • All tab images are to be styled in a way which make them seamlessly blend into the transparent interface.
  • All secondary interface elements (simulated speech bubbles, grids, so-on) use dithering to simulate transparency.
  • All player interface icons which are not the Hotbar or inventory slots use dithering as well.
  • Potion effect background interface elements are dithered as well.
  • All text input boxes remain untouched, no matter what.
  • If I couldn't figure out what to use, take inspiration and barrow from VanllaTweaks' Transparent UI.
  • Invert any elements which could be brighter, or are pure black which isn't a text box or player inventory for visibility.
  • Keep shadows consistient, and improve upon both InventorySense and Transparent UI concepts.

Other differences from original

  • Villager trade container has a symbol at the end of the Experience bar by default
  • OptiFine-enhanced trade containers use colour within the trade box to represent current level
  • OptiFine-enhanced trade containers have the next rank symbol at the end of the experience bar
  • All iconography within container interfaces are dithered to see through it as opacity just doesn't work

Use

The copy on PMC is a compressed resource pack. Just place the archive in .minecraft/resourcepacks and enable it. This work is a complete replacement of InventorySense UI, and as such, should not be used in tandem with it.

Theme addons

Through the power of GitHub and Internet magic, there are now a couple of options to pick from which will go along with this theme, available from my GitHub repository:
  • colourRmx
Colour remixes! So far the only one there is a re-implementation of the Minecraft button arrow palette for use as a main colour but more will come — promise!
  • bookGrid
Adds a dithered grid for the recipe book, in a similar appearance to Moxwel's original work — for when you think the recipe book looks a bit too empty.

How to download more themes

You are encouraged, though it isn't necessary, to browse my repository using GitZip. There are a couple ways you can do this:

Website
Visit the GitZip web interface and use the GitHub repository linked below the download URL for this theme in the field with placeholder GitHub repo root URL or sub-folder URL to browse available selections

Browser extension
You can download GitZip for your web browser so you can easily download files from any GitHub repository, without needing to clone the whole thing!
Landing for Google Chrome / derivatives
Landing for Mozilla Firefox Quantum (57+) / derivatives

Once you have the extension for your specific browser, enable it (if applicable) and leave this page for the URL below the download button. From use, you have to be at the directory you want to download before double-clicking in empty space to initiate.

You should also have a GitHub account — You will be rate-limited and unable to download anything without use of an authorization token provided from GitHub.

Otherwise for convenience, I have tables with DownGit links instead if browsing my repository for people who would rather just use that — should it be available. DownGit can be flaky sometimes, which means you may not be able to use that service.

Of course, you can also just clone the whole Git repo and have access to everything, all of the time in exchange of using up a bunch more disk space than necessary.

If you hadn't seen it already from the above, Moxwel's the original author of this work. If you're giving me a diamond, toss him one as well.
