Prologue
Hello everyone, it's PukedOutKiwi, and this is my 2nd part for the "Factions" series that I am writing. This is meant to help the average faction player on how to gain server dominance, and provide the non-faction player an interesting read. Also, please read this in order, or it may not make too much sense. Other than that, thanks for reading, have a nice day :)

Step 1: Planning Your Next Move
This is where it will get kind of challenging. I am assuming you have a good amount of materials, in-game cash, and an efficient base that you own. But, you will now want to start expanding your faction, as there is a low chance you can even affect the server with a 1-person faction. Before you even try adding people, make sure your base can survive on its own for at least 5 days. Spend these 5 days collecting extra items, gaining wealth, and building your base some more.

The Peaceful Approach:
It is at this time where you want to start socializing with other people on the server. Help them in PvP, trade with them, do things that might establish a positive relationship with a certain person (or persons). By doing this, you are laying out the foundation for when you want to recruit some people to your faction. Try to also get a friend or two to join your faction. The more people you have in your faction that you can trust, the more people will think that you guys are a strong faction. You will also want to start stocking up on even more materials, adding more to your base, getting money, etc. You'll want to be ready when you invite people to your faction. Continue making positive connections for at least 2-3 days.

The Aggressive Approach:
It is at this time that, like the Peaceful Approach, you will start having to socialize as well. Just because you're aggressive, doesn't mean you don't have to make friends. The best factions have lots of people, so you cannot stay as a lowly one-man faction. If you don't like peacefully trading, establish your reputation in PvP. Kill lots of people, and prove to the ones you want to add that you are a worthwhile cause to join, without actually saying you're a worthwhile cause to join. Heck, you can even PvP the ones you want to add to your faction if you want, just don't kill them too much, or they won't join your faction. Try to ally yourselves with the ones you want in your faction in PvP, therefore making positive connections. Continue making positive
connections for at least 3-4 days.

Step 2: Adding People
Now, trust will start to come into play. Do you remember those people who I told you to make positive connections with? Ask them if they want to join your faction. The factionless people you will add will probably say yes (90% of the time), while the ones with factions may not (50% of the time). Before you add a person, you will want to do something first. Delete where you set your faction home, and set your /home there instead. You will then want to find another random location (which is close to the world border, and far from your original f home), and make about 1/8 of the base. Then, you will tell the person that you haven't fully built your f home, and you need their help. Ask for voice communication as well, as that further increases trust between the two of you. If he is willing to build your f home over voice chat for at least 2-3 hours, he's good. Once you finish building that home, tell him that this isn't really the f home, but actually, his new personal base! He will probably be happy to own such a base, so tell him to set his home there. Then, wait for him to move some items over, save the coords, go back to the original faction home, reset the f home, and BOOM. Loyal faction member. This is my main strategy for adding people into my faction, but there are MANY others out there, so use any strategy that feels right.

Step 3: Managing Your New Members
By the time you read this, you should have at least 3-4 loyal members, working for your cause. If you used my strategy on adding members, this means you also have 3-4 bases solely for members of your faction. Why this strategy works so well, is because by doing this, you have 3-4 safehouses as well. Let's say your wonderful f home is raided. You now have 3-4 different places to move whatever you can recover to those new bases. If that member complains, say you helped build the base as well, so you have as big a claim on the base as he/she does. Now, the next choice is up to you:

The Peaceful Approach:
You will now want to make some sort of faction rules, along with a faction ruling system. Set boundaries among your members, along with appropriate consequences for rule-breakers. Also, find what sets of skills your members have that could benefit the faction (redstone, brewing, farming, mining, pvp, etc). Try to add new members that have different skills to produce a well-rounded faction. Start making alliances with other factions as well. The more friends you make, the easier in will be for this approach in the long run.

The Aggressive Approach:
You will now want to establish faction rules as well, but separate your discrepancies and consequences into categories. Establish a daily pay system among your members as well, giving each member some money and some materials for personal use. Have the categories sorted something like this:

Minor Problems:
Consequence: Removal of daily pay for a said amount of time.

Major Problems:
Consequence: Temp-Removed from faction and savagely murdered.
Consequence: Kick from faction

Just note that these are consequences I use, you can come up with your own as well. Also, make sure to find (for an aggressive faction) brewers, pvpers, demolitionists, archers, and at least one negotiator, who manages faction politics. Your faction should be a war machine, not a group of peace loving players.

Ending Statement:
Part 2 is mainly an in-depth view on how to add people to your faction. Next article will be about raiding, and switching bases. Good luck in your quest for server dominance :)
