Okay. Let's get this straight.

Before I get about eight comments saying "books stink!" and "you're such a geek," I want to get this out right now. I will not and am not going to tolerate any comments dissing books, making fun of books, or anything trying to dissuade people from reading them. Books are literature. Literature is a work of art. Everyone has their own opinions, but if a flame war goes down in the comments the minute after I post this, I'm going to take all of the virtual cookies back, and no one can convince me not to!

Anyway, let's begin. I know you're all dying to see another blog post and that I broke my promise, so I don't want to stall you all any longer!

Why Books Shouldn't Be Underrated

Books are read by many, many people around the world. Evanna Lynch, a famous and very successful actress who starred in the Harry Potter movies as Luna Lovegood, is a big bookworm. She's beautiful, wonderful at her job, and loved all around the world for what she does. If she's a person, bookworms are considered people, and all people should be treated the same, bookworms should not be made fun of for what they do. If Evy Lynch can walk around saying she's read hundreds of books in her lifetime and not be teased for it, neither should anyone else.

Books are a huge part of our lives, too, even without us knowing it. Without books, we wouldn't know half the things we know now. We wouldn't have been told fairytales during our childhood and our children wouldn't be told them in the future, either. Not everything can be told by word of mouth. In this case, books are perfect for the occasion, if not YouTube or other things around the internet.

You know all those cheats/tips for Pokemon, Skyrim, and Call of Duty and different video games you probably like other than Minecraft? There are books on those, too. Other than the regularly updated Pokedex and Call of Duty manuals, there are cheat books you can find in stores such as Best Buy or GameStop. These are incredibly helpful. Imagine all the things you wouldn't ever know about your games without them!

Ever hear the book was better than the movie? Many popular movies such as The Hunger Games, Harry Potter and Batman: The Dark Knight Rises started as books (Batman, in this case, starting as a comic). Many have-to-see blockbusters originated as best selling books.

Hopefully, this helped you understand the true meaning of books. If you underestimated and disliked books before, this blog (hopefully) changed your mind! If it didn't, that's a shame, but overall, I hope you enjoyed this blog post and that it helped you out!

Too true. It's sad because soon, books might be obsolete due to the constant advancements in technology. If books do go, I'm going to miss flipping those pages and having something physical to read.

I love reading. It calms me down and brings me into a whole other world (if its written well, unlike the Twilight saga). And this is not a joke, I mean it...I've read the entire Harry Potter series 13 times over...in a single year.

I like reading... It keeps my mind moving, which I like a lot more then being a mindless zombie. It also allows for a lot more freedom if you are in school, I feel I can partly choose what it is I am learning. I like reading philosophy :D

True, true. I get called a "nerd" a lot for reading, even though I'm one of the top athletes at my school...
