Owning a server isn't easy. There, I said it. It isn't a joke and it's really serious stuff. Everyone is grasping for ideas nowadays, the same formula existing for quite a long time. I would know, I've been through the ups and downs of owning a server and as I said earlier, it really isn't something to joke about. Most people get an idea that they will have the best server right off the bat, but this is a time where thus is abundant. As a homehoster, I know what it is like. I had an abandoned server and eventually quit running it. Why? Because I never took the time to get it completely set up, and permissions were a joke there. Server owning can break you emotionally and physically, I had gotten depressed to the point where I quit trying to even eat or get up. I laid on my bed thinking how useless my server was: There are millions of them and I just happen to add to that number. Advertising is pointless and only so many people play Minecraft. That is why there is a lot of trouble with building a playerbase for our servers. I know that this blog seems pointless but read between the lines and see the real point, please. I can' bear using windows phones XD. Please, if you have a notion of making a server, FULLY set it up before publishing please, to separate the pcmr from the noobasauruses.

thanks,
-jcc

I ended up posting mine a bit early on Pmc only, just to have someone come test things for me, though the reasons I made my server was not to just; Hey I have a server guys come spend your money, I want money, give me money. Like most of them today..

I made mine mostly just for myself, I really enjoy building, it's been something i've enjoyed for a few years now and i've never ended up bored. There are always new things coming to mind, however leading to another reason I made my own, I wanted a community to share my buildings with and them share theirs with me. I love to see different styles of building, because i'm not too adaptive on switching my styles frequently. I could go on and on about all the things I enjoy about minecraft, but I don't want to make a huge spam post :\ My server is everything I like in minecraft all into one.

Ever since it's been posted i've done nothing but improve it to my best capabilitys. I can say without doubt i'm a fan of my own server. I feel like most of these owners aren't so they end up giving up on it.

And it's all we can ask for. Unfortunately though, I've lost the time and will to continue running my server at full operation. I suppose I'll need to try a new formula.

Thx for the comment man. It's pretty insightful.

No problem :p

i'm sure you'll get the spark for owning a server again, if not. Hey it may not be something you really want.
I've wanted a real chance at this for over a year now, it's reality now, so i'm quite happy.

It's tough when you spend so much time on something, only to see the community's reaction is below your expectations.  You should upload more solo projects to PMC so people get a feel of the kind of work you specialize in.  You might find some success growing your subscriber base that way.  :)

Haha, well to be fair I'm mostly in the projects section.  I've yet to expand to skins and such.  ;)
