You know, I have seen servers come and go, swell and pop. I've seen cakies come, swell up with EXP from other users viewing their posts, and then they fall to the dump. So why do these people continue to pay for their hosts, after so long of no players coming? one that comes to mind is the sad, sorry mc.minecraft4u.net server. my friend spudlab kinda introduced me to it... But anyways, so far I've been moping in this blog. Lets get to business.
First, my server, IceCraft-2014, is slightly abandoned, even though ive only had it since August. With a regular Player Base of around five, and great staff and plugins, 42 to be exact, and 125 slots, I wish it was more popular. I am saving up for a good computer to make it 24/7.
So how does it all work, this popularity thing? will anyone tell me?
Oh and if your'e wondering, my server is located at both PMC and Enjin.com

We don't like threats of DDoS'ing our servers, so if we ban you, that was brought onto your own shoulders. Oh, and if owners are smart and using Bukkit for servers, DDoS has no effect. (Ping Packet Limit in bukkit.yml)

Please either post this as an "Other" blog, or in the forums next time. More people will take you seriously.
As for your question, there is no formula to creating a popular server. But if your server is junk/an old idea, you'll never get popular. You have to keep things fresh and keep introducing new features, setting new standards.
