Greetings dear readers, fans, and subscribers.

I've created this blog to give you an insight of the reasons regarding my current decision on the Ornate 5 Re-resurrected pack.

As you probably know, I have released in last time a new version of the Ornate 5 RR pack, known as Lite Edition.
The reason behind this move, was to allow the pack to run on even weaker PCs and sadisfy those ones, that do not care alot about some (or all) of the features provided in the Full Edition (like additional animations, CTM support, etc., in short: MCPatcher related features or my alternative textures).

At the same time I have further developed the Full Edition, which ran fine, but...
...but I got into a point, where it turned out that it starts to be really heavy performance killer, and thus became a problem even for my PC to handle it at some moments - mostly game load times and crashes while switching packs, etc. (yeah, I need a new rig :s).

And then I stoped for a moment and asked myself: "Mon, why yerr not fuggin use the advantage of the current vanilla features like the support for AddOn packs?"
And tbh. I had really near zero arguments why not use that option.
Thus I wrote me down a list of Pros and Cons...

Positives:
  • better performance
  • higher, more flexible and far easier customization
  • faster game loading
  • less time spent on uploading the files everytime I change something
  • lesser data downloading
  • even wider spectrum of happy Ornate 5 users :)
  • comprendious managing of features
  • more focused developement
While on the other hand, there arose actually only one negative which was the discomfort that would arise for the players which like to use the Full Edition. And that is an important argument imo. I will return to this later in the blog.

Looking at the pros and cons, it was more-or-less a no-brainer.
So, I decided to make the formerly known Lite Edition of this pack the main Core of Ornate 5 Re-resurrected.
Basicaly it changes absolutely nothing on the Lite Edition except the naming from Lite Edtition to Core.
However it changes quite some things for the players used to the Full Edition. Alright, not that much, not that unbearable, but still there are some news.

In short... All of the features provided in the Full Edtion will be from now on available in a separated AddOn pack downloads (modules).
That means all the CTM files, Animations, HD Fonts, Alternative textures, Biome specific textures, Randomobs, Better Skies, Metadata textures, etc. all those will be now modular.

Let's make some example of what all of that above means:
Alright, let's say, you like the Ornate pack, but the Full Edition is too demanding on performance for your pc, or you just do not like/need all of the provided features in Full Edition, but on the other hand, the Lite Edtion is just too plain.
You would like to have the Randomobs, and/or Clear design Glass Blocks/Panes, and/or nicer Wood blocks and/or HD Ornate Fonts.
Well, now you will have the option to get all those features in a separated AddOn packs.
No longer will you need to extract the Full Edtion, remove, replace or copy/paste files you do or do not want to have in game.
Simply donwload the Fragile Addon for different Glass textures, and/or the Woodworker's Addon for extended wood textures, etc.
After that, just place the downloaded AddOn packs into the resource pack folder within /.minecraft, just as you do it with any other resourcepack and then select the AddOn packs in game and move them atop of the Ornate 5 Re-resurrected Core pack.
That's it. Just that simple. No more hassle, no more time waste with editing, managing, copy/pasting...
Simply you just select what you want and use it.

Well... but what now with all those people that enjoyed the Full Edition?
Do they need now to download all the wide spectrum of AddOn packs and move them one atop of each other... duh,... that is not simplyfied at all. It just swaps the preffence of Lite Edtion users with Full Edition users.
Ofc. it is not less hassle, it sounds more like the opposite of it. And this is something I definitely do not want to happen.

So I decided to release separated bundles of modules (AddOn packs) which ie. will contain all of the features of the Full Edition. So one AddOn pack and that's it, you have full edition version.
That said, the only difference will be that you will have to donwload once the Ornate 5 RR - Core, and then just get the All-in-one AddOn pack, move it in the game atop of the Core pack and enjoy the pack as you know it from the past.

I hope this brought enough insight into the upcoming changes of Ornate 5 Re-resurrected pack and sadisfied both sides of the community.

DEAL? :-)

Sincerely yours,
Babbajagga

This is not an interview....
Why is it in the 'interviews' section?
