Dukonred1 made an amazing walkthrough video of this project here.
He also did a more detailed walkthrough video here.
This build depicts a mid 17th Century French colonial fort in the American colonies during the French and Indian War period.. It was heavily influenced by Fort Duquesne (Pittsburg PA), Fort Ligonier (PA), Fort Michilimackinac (MI), and others. It is a typical wooden structure made from the abundant timber of the American colonies and its built in the typical "star" pattern of time which gave the forts many cannons a clear sight of enemies as well as overlapping fire zones along the walls to target attackers. The fort has three lines defense starting with a ditch and a "worm" split-rail fence, then a mound topped with a wooden palisade and finally the inner walls made of horizontal timbers with crenellations and ports for muskets and cannons. The interior of the fort contains several log cabins and half-timber buildings that include barracks for soldiers, a mess hall, kitchens, bakery, officers quarters, quartermasters office and storehouse, armory, smith, commandant's house, chapel, trading post, bunk house, dock, gallows, stables, lumber mill, butcher, smokehouse, privy, and more. Outside the walls the landscape shows the scars of the relentless timber harvesting on the forest. There are also several structures outside the walls depicting the new settlers taking advantage of the forts presence. These include a farmhouse and barns, an inn, hunter's and fisherman's cabins, and more. Throughout the build there are many buildings under construction showing the growing nature of the community. Lastly across the river you can find in the dense, untouched forest, many animals including elk and wolves, as well as a native village set up to trade furs and other resources to the settlers for guns, and other European goods.
I began the project in March of 2020 and finished in December of 2020. This project earned me the "master" rank in architecture, and I would like to thank all the members and staff of the Darwin Reforged server who helped me with this project in terms of ideas, critiques, and encouragement.
