"The Fall of Maldur"



Kastel - a relatively peaceful land, where mountains stretch high into the air and vast forests dig their roots deep into the fertile ground and color the landscape as the seasons pass. 



But we are tought not to judge a book by its cover - hence Kastel is a land of magic and supernatural wonders, and the peace which rules over this land today was bought with the blood, sweat and tears of courageous armies which swept across the land, destroying anything in their path.



In the days of old a war raged between the devine forces of good and evil, during which time a boy named Maldur grew up in a peaceful village, hidden deep in the snowy mountains. In these dark ages Magic was rare and only a few studied its secrets and abilities, those men were respected and referred to as the Wise men or Wizards. 



A wise man named Kintroth took Maldur under his wing soon after his fathers death, the man would come to teach him his abilities, a vast range of winterspells which he had studied throughout his entire life. 



A few years later Kintroth passed away, leaving his only heir Maldur to continue his studies, but following his death the war took a sudden turn for the worse. Humanity started to fear the magic which had once made them so proud and with such desperation that they'd comission their wizards into the battlefield, those whom resisted would be imprisoned or killed. 



Maldur layed low for not many knew of his knowledge of the winter arts, this allowed him to continue his studies in secret for many years to come. Maldur knew however, that one day he'd be discovered by the kings guards, and when that day came he ran. He sought refuge in an old temple in a hidden valley, once a meeting place of powerful wizards and a proud monument to his nation, now run down by the endless blizzard storm which raged on.



Maldur chose not to give up, as he'd use the last of his remaining powers to lift the temple afloat to keep it from the destructive hands of humanity, but in the process of which he was killed by an arrow. The temple, later renamed the Temple of Maldur, still floats in the air.

And thus concludes the fall of Maldur, the last of the wise men.
