FORENOTE - I made this for the Life On Mars contest. If you wish to check it out, I've provided some command blocking as I like to do. Since Mars has less gravity than Earth, you get a jump boost effect. Because the sky is so dusty, it's also always dark there. (It's always raining, but the rain is invisible because the build is in a special biome.) I've also included a story with this, and it will follow up as soon as I end this sentence.

---Day 1---
On my way to Mars, the trip was faster than expected, only two days.
I entered the atmosphere at around 3:56 space time, relative to my spaceship.
It was very dark when I landed. I'm very tired, so I will have to explore tomorrow.

---Day 2---
Today is an exciting day! An advanced civilization has touched down where I've landed.
I sent back a large picture of all of the structures using my drone [Picture].
The first thing I wanted to explore was all of the outside structures. The first thing
that I spotted was a strange feild of pannel like structures [Picture]. I found
these especially odd because when these pannels are subject it intense light,
they generate a form of energy that then gets transfered through large black
cables back into the complex. The other object I'm going to look at is possibly
the landing module of these organisims. It looks very strange with it crashed into
the mountian range of the crater. The plating must be very durable to survive a
crash of that size. Here's a picture of the ship [Picture]. The lever to the left
of the door triggers the beds closing up. The beds are very strange, as it
appears it's a form of cryogenic freezing. The ancient controls
don't work but I can counclude the ship was ment to be operated
at a distance. How far away we will never know. The Sun has sent
and I'm going to head home to my module. I'll report tomorrow.

---Day 3---
I'm going to explore one of the largest buildings on the planet, the large arched platform.
The first thing I noticed is reminants of an air seal or air lock to keep out the natural
atmosphere. This has broken down, and later I realised almost all power to
the buildings have eroded away and no longer work. Here's a picture of the doorway [Picture].
When you enter, the lights still work suprisingly. When you climb the ladder,
you enter the main platform. It's full of ice due to the platform's high elevation.
This could have been a water farm, as the floor freezes with frost every night.
I'm sending an image of the inside attached with the log [Picture].
I will make a note on the architecture. It's an arch, but my
calculations say it's not enough to support the platform. How odd.

---Day 4---
Today is the day I started exploring the main materials room. The room
is circular like most of the rooms attached here. Here's a photo I
snapped of the room [Picture]. There's decaying wood and leaves to provide
oxygen in this otherwise carbon filled room. It also has a farm, but the seeds have
decayed. There are some storage chests in the back of the room. Suprisingly,
one light fixture is still working. That's good for taking pictures. At the
back of the room there's a mine, but it's caved in so we can't
find anything exciting without risk of caving it [Picture].
That's all I'm reporting today because I've been working my head
off testing these samples! Good night.

---Day 5---
I tested the hallway and the other central room today. Much work!
For some strange reason, when I was doing a standard UV
light check, I found the walls to be covered in small, ovals
with odd intricate patterns. I've found about 60 different patterns
around the place. This may be a feature of the organisms who
set up this base. Another weird thing is they have tilled
dirt and water in two separate rooms [Picture] [Picture].
The rooms look completly alike. This might be to plant
seeds, but what use do seeds have? We may never
know. The stranger thing is what's connecting the rooms.
It appears to be some sort of testing labratory. In fact,
there's a cage with decaying bones in it! We might be able
to discover how old the ruins are! Here's a picture [Picture]. I'm going
to send home the bones when I make my return trip in a few days.
I'm going to take a much needed rest. I've been feeling sort of sick.

---Day 6---
I'm not feeling so well. I haven't found bacteria or a virus anywhere.
That's odd. Anyways, I searched two rooms, the other common room I
said I would do yesterday and a branch of that room. The material of the
room is much stronger than the metal that was used in other buildings.
It's a grayish black plating and covers the room [Picture]. Intresting.
This combined with the fact it's farther away from the ship makes me
belive this was a later extension to the main base. The blue screen
in the back is made of redstone, lapis, and cactus green dye woven
together with iron ingot. The iron block bottom contains a lot of compact
redstone wire with a lever and keypad to operate it. It connects to the
screen via a redstone bus. The tube in the middle of the room contains
flowing water that flows into an artificial ecosystem. The purpose of
the system is unknown [Picture]. The next room is probably a labratory.
It has a big machine in the back, with tables in the right and shelves on
the left. I've spent two hours trying to pry open the system with a screwdriver
with no luck. I'm going to send it back with the other artifacts. I took samples
of the table and shelves but it appears negative. It has no dust! Not even
those oval prints! It's as if it hasen't been touched [Picture].
That's enough for day, cadet signing off.

---Day 7---
This is my final day. Tomorrow morning I'm taking off. I've spent a week collecting
artifacts to ship home and I'm finally done! I'm going to start with what I think
is the sleeping area [Picture]. It appears quite cozy! There are also bathrooms
on the opposite side [Picture]. There isn't much to report here so I'm moving on.
The next room is VERY odd. There's a rover in the middle of the room with a
control pannel on the side. It's not functional [Picture]. There are solar
pannels on the side of the car, suggesting it's solar powered. I found some
blueprints for it in a chest, so I wont take it home. I weighs almost 20 ts! The control
pannel is made of the same material as the other screen, so I think it was a display.
This seems to be it, other than two radio telescopes at the back of the base. They
run on 200pld range beacons, letting a range of ~400 km. The last odd thing
I found was this banner I found in a chest [Picture]. It's so out of place!
Anyways, this is cadet signing off. Expect me back in a few days with my loot!
